Week 1: The Overfunctioning Reboot
Shift: “Your worth lives in who you are, not what you produce.”
Hi there,
There’s a moment — usually quiet, usually unnoticed — when you slip into overfunctioning. It’s the instant your nervous system decides, “If I do more, everything will stay okay.”
Overfunctioning isn’t about capability.
It’s about protection.
It’s the body saying:
If I stay busy, I won’t feel the disappointment.
If I handle everything, no one will leave.
If I keep giving, maybe I’ll finally feel chosen.
But here’s the truth most people never hear: Overfunctioning is a trauma response dressed up as competence.
It looks like strength. It feels like responsibility. But underneath, it’s fear — fear of being too much, too little, or too inconvenient.
The Reboot Prompt
Your worth lives in who you are, not what you produce.
The Shift
Instead of asking, “What else can I do?” ask, “What am I afraid will happen if I don’t?”
That question interrupts the loop. It brings you back into your body. It lets you see the fear behind the hustle.
The Integration
Take a breath. Place your hand on your chest. Ask yourself softly: “What part of me is trying to keep everything together?”
Let that part speak. Let it be heard. You don’t have to fix it — just acknowledge it.
That’s the reboot.
If this landed for you, this is the kind of inner work I help people navigate — slowing down the patterns, listening to the nervous system, and rebuilding emotional clarity from the inside out.
